It’s Christmas time again! This is my third year of going online to sell my chocolates and baked products. I admit that I have not fully maximized the advantages of having an online business. This is my second time to attend the conference and events this year wowed me. I loved the AVP about the conference made by Buddy Gancenia that shows the top 10 Social Networking Sites in the Philippines, it made a big impact on the attendees even me who teaches about social networking in college and even ask my students to research on these Top 10 SNS last semester. Day 1 of the conference laid the groundwork for a better understanding of social networks. As human beings, connecting to another person is important. It is part of who we are, connecting to family, friends, co-workers, classmates, or even with people we meet on the street there are always an exchange or a connection even if it is just a smile. Every person I meet in my life is important, be it my family, friends, students, my co-workers, the academic community, customers and even my online friends are treasured. I have this ability to attract even foreigners as friends and I form a close bond with them having regular chat sessions, exchanging pictures and messages and even sharing videos. Being in a social network opened many doors for me, I made friends, got invited to free seminars and even helped in making my dream of starting an online business a reality. As an educator I use social networks to be always in touch with my students, make sure information disseminations is easy and swift to reach them in order to supplement what we learn inside the classroom. I also use the social network to keep in touch with family and friends all over the world and to also easily communicate with colleagues. We can’t escape it, social networking is becoming the norm, a ways of life. It makes time and distance almost insignificant, long distance relationship bearable.
