A Gameplan of a Busy Working Mom

I am a very busy person. I am a wife, mother, daughter, teacher, blogger, entrepreneur and a good friend. One can say my life is very full. At present I have a 30-hour a week class load at PLMar and an IT consultant work working from Monday thru Saturday. I estimate that I have a 45-hours per week job that is aside from being an entrepreneur where I bake on demand. I also do not have a house helper or even a yaya for my son. I even try to blog on my free time. At present I am planning my valentines product line. I never expected to have the life that I have now, I always dreamed of being a stay at home mother, but circumstances like the current economy plus having my parents to take care of made me decide to continue working. My husband always reminds me to take it slow, that I don’t need to work this hard. He would like me to choose only one job to teach and stop my business or vice versa. Even I am amazed on the amount of activity I maintain and the outputs I produce. But I have a g

Your Online Persona

I am teaching my business students about social networking and blogging as part of our ecommerce syllabus. Most young people today are tech-savvy. They have digital cameras and access to the internet. They spent most of their free time online. They have accounts to most popular social networks and what amazes me is that they capture or document their lives thru photos or videos and uploaded them online. There is no small or big event that is not captured and shared on the internet. I should know for we have a social network dedicated just for our class. One of my objectives in teaching them about social networking and blogging is giving them ideas how these technologies can benefit their future business ventures or careers, I always stress/impress on them the importance of creating a clean and professional image of themselves online. I treat having a blog or a website as being a “star” or “celebrity” of sort. There is always a possibility of becoming famous or well-known online. You ge

The SMART Actions for 2009 and Beyond

Many say 2009 maybe a difficult year worldwide due to the world economic slowdown, I agree. But it does not mean we can’t make this year a success. We may encounter difficulties achieving what we planned for the year but it is still possible with hard work and great planning. Many people create New Year’s resolutions during this time but I don’t. I make plans, Smart plans. A few years ago I discovered this strategy called the SMART goal “formula”. I can’t remember where I got it, maybe on OPRAH, a seminar or from one of my friends. I applied it a few years ago, at a time when I felt my life is just moving in circles, I was not going anywhere, I was unhappy with myself and my career. I started making plans, short and long term ones and used the SMART formula. In short I made plans that are SMART. SMART Stands for S – specific M – measurable A – achievable R – realistic T – time bound So at every start of the year I review my SMART plans. I made plans for the current year, plans for

Year 2008 Blessings Received and Shared

Year 2008 was blessed, busy, bittersweet, bountiful and a time for growth for all of us in the family. It was a year I achieved so much both in my personal and professional life. I felt I matured greatly, for the better and learned that in order to grow as a person I must accept that I cannot have everything I want when I want it. Everything must be in God’s time. It was also a bittersweet time for me, last October my grandmother and cousin died within weeks of each other. A student of mine also died last November, an accident he was so young just in his second year of college. It was one of the reasons I stopped blogging. I may have not shown that I was mourning for their loss for work kept me busy but deep inside I knew that I have to heal inside before I can write again. My experience of death in the family made me realize that my parents, in laws and my aunts and uncles are growing old and I can’t stop it. That they are not the people who I once thought were invincible, that they a
